US Admits Failure of Regime Change Efforts in Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Tom Barrack, a former special envoy to Syria under the Trump administration, admitted in an interview with The National that the U.S. government, including then-President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, did not support regime change in Iran but instead sought regional solutions.
Barrack conceded that Washington had twice attempted intervention in Iran to change the government but failed. He suggested that such matters should be left to regional countries, deeming it a more prudent approach.
Barrack also claimed that the U.S. government is interested in reaching an agreement with Tehran. However, he stipulated that Tehran must demonstrate seriousness and cease its support for regional forces as a precondition for any such deal.
Regarding Syria, Barrack stated that the U.S. sees a genuine opportunity for an agreement between Damascus and Israel concerning borders and safe zones, followed by a move toward normalization of relations.
