Russian Defense Minister: NATO Preparing for Potential Conflict

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov announced on Wednesday that NATO’s military expenditures are increasing as the alliance prepares for a potential conflict with Russia.
Belousov stated that NATO’s military budget is increasing by more than 150%. He noted that NATO is accelerating the deployment of forces to its eastern flank and is implementing plans to introduce a “military Schengen” to facilitate these deployments. Furthermore, he added that NATO continues to strengthen its forces, including modernizing its nuclear ammunition.
Belousov emphasized that modernizing the Russian armed forces, considering external threats and developing innovative technologies, remains a top priority. He highlighted the effectiveness of Russia’s air defense systems, claiming an average success rate of 97% in repelling attacks by Ukrainian armed forces.
The defense minister asserted that the policies of Europe and Kyiv are setting the stage for continued military actions in the coming year. He identified the creation of drone forces as a key issue. Belousov also suggested that the liberation of Dimitrov and Krasnoarmiisk would represent the Ukrainian armed forces’ most significant defeat in Donbas in recent times.
