Maduro Warns UN Chief of Washington’s Threats to Regional Peace

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has cautioned that Washington’s threats jeopardize regional stability during a phone call with UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
The Venezuelan presidency reported that Maduro strongly denounced U.S. President Donald Trump’s assertion that Venezuela’s oil and wealth belong to the United States.
The presidency also quoted Maduro as stating that Trump’s remarks are colonial in nature and constitute a direct threat to Venezuela’s national sovereignty.
Trump threatened Venezuela, declaring that any sanctioned oil tankers entering or leaving Venezuela would be targeted. He added that Venezuela is now completely blockaded by the largest naval fleet ever assembled in South American history, and that this fleet will expand further.
Trump also claimed that Venezuela would receive an unprecedented shock until, as he put it, all oil, land, and other assets that the Venezuelan government stole from the United States are returned. Trump stated that he had issued a formal order for a comprehensive naval blockade against sanctioned oil tankers, asserting that Washington would not allow a hostile regime to seize any oil, land, or other assets from the U.S. and demanded their immediate return.
Relations between the United States and Venezuela have repeatedly strained in recent years, with Washington imposing extensive sanctions against Caracas, pressuring the Maduro administration.
