UNIFIL Transfers Cleared Minefield to Lebanese Army Near Blue Line

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UNIFIL stated that the mine-clearing operations for humanitarian purposes in southern Lebanon resumed last summer at the request of the Lebanese government, following a nearly two-year pause.
These developments occur against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli aggression. Despite the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, Israeli forces maintain a presence in five border points, prompting demands for their withdrawal by Lebanon.
UNIFIL further explained that during the recent operation, peacekeepers discovered and destroyed 393 mines. After clearing an area of approximately 2,000 square meters, these mines were detonated in coordination with the Lebanese Army.
Previously, UNIFIL condemned Israeli aggression north of the Blue Line as a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and Lebanese sovereignty.
