Brazil’s President Lula Warns Military Action in Venezuela Would Be a Human Catastrophe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva warned on Saturday that any military action in Venezuela would result in a “human catastrophe.” Speaking at the opening of the Mercosur summit, Lula emphasized the dire consequences of such an intervention.
This comes as U.S. President Donald Trump, in a December 18 interview with NBC News, declined to dismiss the possibility of war with Venezuela. When pressed about his ultimate objectives regarding Caracas, Trump avoided providing specifics, stating only, “He [Maduro] knows exactly what I want. He knows it better than anyone.”
Trump further escalated tensions by announcing increased pressure on Venezuela, including a blockade and plans to designate Nicolás Maduro’s government as a foreign terrorist organization.
