Syrian Army Seizes Key Territories from SDF in Northeast Syria as Heavy Clashes Erupt

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Syrian Army announced on Sunday that its forces have fully liberated the Al-Tabqa military airport from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) during their advance in northeastern Syria. Simultaneously, reports confirm the army’s control over the Al-Mansoura Dam (formerly Baath Dam) and the towns of Ratla and Al-Hamam near Raqqa.
The SDF countered by stating its forces are engaged in intense combat against Syrian government troops in Al-Mansoura town, accusing Damascus of committing atrocities at Al-Kanisa prison in Al-Tabqa. Meanwhile, the Syrian government claimed SDF and PKK forces executed prisoners, including civilians, before retreating from Al-Tabqa, labeling these acts as war crimes.
In a significant development, Reuters reported Syrian forces have gained control over the Al-Omar oil field – Syria’s largest – and the Koniko gas field in eastern Syria. The Syrian Oil Company confirmed government forces now dominate multiple oil and gas fields across Deir ez-Zor province.
These military advances occur despite CENTCOM’s call for Syria to halt operations between eastern Aleppo and western Raqqa. Eyewitness reports describe a humanitarian crisis in Raqqa after SDF forces allegedly destroyed the Old Euphrates Bridge, severing water supplies to the entire city.
Sky News reported Raqqa faces severe water shortages amid the escalating conflict, while heavy artillery exchanges continue in Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa’s outskirts. Syrian media claim 64 SDF fighters surrendered in Al-Mansoura, as government forces approach within 5 km of Raqqa’s western entrance, anticipating peak combat operations soon.
