Anti-US Protests Erupt in Denmark and Greenland Over Trump’s Annexation Bid

The demonstrations, organized under the slogan ‘Hands Off Greenland,’ saw participation from senior officials, including Greenland’s Prime Minister Jens Frederik Nielsen, who condemned Washington’s expansionist policies.
The Guardian reported widespread public anger after Trump revived historical US interest in purchasing Greenland, escalating tensions between Brussels and Washington. This latest diplomatic strain follows earlier friction caused by the Trump administration’s Ukraine peace plan, which European leaders viewed as favoring Russian interests.
Both Greenland’s local government and citizens have firmly rejected any potential annexation by the United States. The vast Arctic territory remains an integral part of Denmark, a founding NATO member, with its parliament having final authority over foreign and security matters concerning Greenland.
