Iraq Establishes Seven-Layer Security Barrier on Syrian Border

Iraq has implemented a seven-layer security barrier along its border with Syria, with officials confirming full readiness gaps and advanced surveillance measures in place.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraq‘s Ministry of Interior announced on Friday the establishment of a seven-layer security barrier along the country’s border with Syria. Brigadier General Abbas Al-Bahadli, the ministry’s spokesperson, emphasized that no security gaps or high-risk zones exist, with border forces maintaining high alert.

Al-Bahadli revealed that Iraq’s Ministry of Interior had developed a preemptive border security plan three years prior to current developments. The comprehensive strategy includes trenches, embankments, quadruple barriers, barbed wire, concrete towers, cement walls, and the deployment of fixed-wing thermal and laser drones.

The security deployment focuses on three main components: border forces, the Iraqi Army, and Popular Mobilization Forces. Measures incorporate human resources across three defensive lines, engineering efforts, and advanced technologies such as motion sensors and surveillance cameras.
