Settler Attacks in West Bank Continue Unabated, UN Official Warns

UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini warns of escalating settler violence in the West Bank, with over 1,100 Palestinians killed since October 2023 amid what he calls Israel’s ‘silent war’ against Palestinian communities.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini has condemned the ongoing settler attacks in the West Bank, describing the situation as Israel’s ‘silent war’ against Palestinians. In a statement published by Palestinian news agency WAFA, Lazzarini reported that settler violence continues without interruption, leaving Palestinian communities under constant threat of displacement, land confiscation, and livelihood destruction.

The UN official emphasized that perpetrators operate with impunity, while media coverage remains inadequate. Since October 2023, over 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, with approximately 11,500 injured and more than 21,000 detained. Lazzarini noted that tens of thousands remain displaced as their homes are systematically demolished to prevent their return.

The violence has intensified alongside Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, with both the Israeli army and settlers committing numerous violations in the West Bank. The humanitarian situation continues to deteriorate as Palestinian communities face what Lazzarini characterized as a deliberate strategy to erase their presence in the territory.
