Russia Responds to Security Threats in the Arctic, Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Interests

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russia is implementing measures to protect its strategic interests in the Arctic, as confirmed by Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the European Affairs Department at the Russian Foreign Ministry. In an interview with RIA Novosti, Maslennikov emphasized that Moscow’s actions, including military-technical measures, are not directed against third countries but aim to counter growing security challenges.
Maslennikov highlighted the increasing scale and aggressiveness of NATO military exercises in the Arctic, warning that Russia will respond decisively to any attempts to undermine its national security in the region. He noted that while Russia maintains regular contact with Denmark regarding the Arctic Council’s activities, discussions do not include the status of Greenland.
