Merkel Urges EU to Assert Greater Independence from the US

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency citing the German News Agency, former German Chancellor Angela Merkel stated in a speech that the European Union must exhibit more independence regarding the United States on important matters, especially in global politics.
The former German Chancellor, in this regard, urged the European Union to actively pursue diplomatic solutions for the resolution of the Ukraine crisis.
She called on Brussels to maintain its autonomy in its dealings with the United States.
