An Iraqi security source informed Al Jazeera that the air defense system deployed at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad failed to operate during a drone attack targeting the embassy. The source indicated that parts of the embassy’s air defense system were disabled due to missile and drone attacks from Iran.
The security source further stated that the U.S. Embassy is continuing its efforts to deploy a new air defense system in the area. Earlier on Saturday, the Associated Press reported, citing security officials, that a missile struck the helicopter landing pad within the U.S. Embassy compound.
