Lebanese President Warns Israeli Attacks Jeopardize Ceasefire Efforts

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that escalating Israeli actions in southern Lebanon and the Beqaa Valley pose a significant threat to ongoing efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and end the conflict.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency citing Al Jazeera, the President of Lebanon reacted to recent developments and the continuation of Israeli aggressions. He asserted that the expansion of Israeli aggressive actions in the south and the Beqaa Valley represents a dangerous escalation of tensions and is condemned.

President Aoun, without referencing his own perceived weak stance against alleged Israeli crimes and irresponsible actions in confronting Hezbollah, added that Israel’s escalation of tensions actively targets all current efforts to establish a ceasefire and end the war.

The Lebanese President continued, stating that current events will not hinder their attempts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire as soon as possible. He claimed to have instructed the negotiating delegation not to compromise on the issue that a comprehensive ceasefire is the gateway to discussing other matters. He emphasized that a comprehensive ceasefire is the entry point for discussions on other important issues, including Israeli withdrawal, army deployment, and the return of prisoners.

These statements from the Lebanese President, discussing the continuation of negotiations with Israel, come as the occupying army continues its attacks on various regions of the country. In attacks conducted early this morning in the southern and eastern parts of Lebanon, dozens were killed and injured.
