Lavrov Hopes Iran-US Understanding Prevents Resumption of Violence

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed hope that a memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran will prevent the resurgence of violence in West Asia. He also indicated potential shifts in U.S. policy regarding the Ukraine conflict and competition in energy markets.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on the situation in West Asia and Iran, stating, “We hope that the memorandum of understanding signed between Washington and Tehran will not allow violence to be resumed.”
The Russian Foreign Minister further elaborated, “There is a sense that the United States may change its approach again regarding the resolution of the Ukraine conflict. We are in contact with the U.S. Secretary of State.”
Sergey Lavrov continued, “The United States wants to sideline Russian companies from energy markets. The U.S. is supporting Kyiv through sanctions against Russia and special programs to aid the Ukrainian armed forces.”
