According to Fars International News Agency, Jens Stoltenberg, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), described the situation on the ground in the war between Ukraine and Russia as complicated and difficult.
Stoltenberg said today (Tuesday) before entering the meeting of defense ministers of EU member states in Brussels: “The situation on the battlefield is difficult, so now it is more important to make our aid more stable and increase it”.
According to “Sputnik” news agency, he explained that NATO’s military and financial support to Ukraine is in the interest of the member states: “Russia should not win [the war] and Ukraine should maintain its independence.” NATO Secretary General further claimed that Ukraine should decide on how to negotiate with Russia and conclude a peace agreement.
According to this report, Stoltenberg also announced the strengthening of NATO’s military presence in the Baltic region and the North Seas after the vandalism of the Nord Stream and Baltic Connector gas pipelines.
According to Sputnik, he refused to answer questions about the information leaked to the media about Ukraine’s role in the explosion of the Russian gas transmission pipeline to Europe (Nord Stream).
