Lebanese Party Warns Against Deal with Israel, Citing Sovereignty Concerns

A prominent Lebanese party has issued a stark warning regarding a recent agreement between the Lebanese government and Israel, emphasizing that any deal must prioritize national sovereignty and the rights of the Lebanese people above external interests.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency via Al-Ahed, the Lebanese Shabeebah Party released a statement reacting to the agreement signed between the country’s Western-aligned government and the Israeli regime. The party declared that any agreement must be assessed from the perspective of safeguarding Lebanon‘s sovereignty and the rights of its people, rather than from the standpoint of reception by the Israeli side or others.

The statement elaborated: “Any framework that commits Lebanon without specific guarantees, while in return providing Israel with a security margin to continue its aggressions, is questionable.”

The statement further clarified: “As long as the occupation of the occupied territories and Palestine continues, Israel will remain an occupying power and a historical enemy for a large segment of the Lebanese people and Arabs. We warn that Netanyahu’s cabinet may exploit this agreement for its political and military gains and impose new equations on Lebanon. The sacrifices of the resistance against the Zionist enemy from 1948 until the invasion of Lebanon in 1982 and other aggressions cannot be ignored. The blood of martyrs and the dignity of Lebanon are not negotiable. Any agreement that does not consider the country’s sovereignty and the cessation of enemy aggressions is rejected.”
