Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Express Grave Concern Over Recent Regional Developments

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have voiced deep concern regarding escalating regional tensions following recent actions by Washington and retaliatory measures against Iran. The foreign ministers of both nations discussed their commitment to fostering peace amid these volatile developments.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have jointly expressed significant apprehension over recent regional developments, particularly in light of actions taken by the United States. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan issued a statement on Sunday indicating that Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan, discussed their profound concerns during a phone call.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement detailed that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister reaffirmed Islamabad’s dedication to endeavors aimed at solidifying peace, in line with the Islamabad memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington.

This comes after the Axios news outlet, quoting an American official, confirmed alleged renewed ceasefire violations by Washington. The report claimed that the U.S. military launched attacks against targets in Iran in response to what it described as Iran’s Saturday attack on a commercial oil tanker.

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) had officially confirmed these actions. CENTCOM announced early Sunday that U.S. forces, under the direct order of President Donald Trump, conducted further strikes against multiple targets within Iranian territory.

The American command asserted that these strikes were a response to Iran’s recent attack on the Panamanian-flagged commercial tanker ‘Kiko,’ which it claimed was targeted by Iranian strike drones.

CENTCOM, without acknowledging repeated U.S. ceasefire violations, alleged that American fighter jets targeted Iranian military infrastructure, including surveillance systems, communication networks, and air defense sites.
