Amnesty International Alleges Widespread Atrocities by RSF in Sudan’s El Fasher

Amnesty International has reported on alleged war crimes, including ethnic cleansing and widespread violence against civilians, committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) led by General Hemedti in El Fasher, Sudan. The organization detailed deliberate attacks on residential areas and systematic abuse.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Amnesty International has reported on egregious crimes being committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, Sudan. The organization stated that the RSF, affiliated with General Hemedti, has engaged in acts of war crimes and ethnic cleansing within the city. The report highlights extensive and intentional acts of violence targeting children, as well as planned assaults on civilian settlements in the outskirts of El Fasher. Specific allegations include murder, kidnapping, and sexual assault. Amnesty International also revealed that RSF forces deliberately set fire to homes, rendering them uninhabitable. The organization indicated that the commanders of these forces were aware of the atrocities but failed to take action to stop or prosecute those responsible.

The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and its former ally Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemedti and commander of the RSF, erupted in April 2023. This conflict has resulted in what is described as the “worst humanitarian crisis,” displacing over 12 million people and causing tens of thousands of fatalities. Late last month, in October 2025, the RSF announced they had seized control of the city of El Fasher in North Darfur, an event that subsequently led to the displacement of more than 100,000 civilians.
