NATO Summit in Ankara Demands Iran Respect Strait of Hormuz Shipping, Boosts Ukraine Aid

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a final statement released following the summit of NATO member state leaders in Ankara called on Iran to uphold freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Notably, the statement did not condemn repeated provocations by the United States and the Zionist regime in the region, nor did it acknowledge the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program, while emphasizing the necessity of preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The leaders of the alliance also announced an increase in military expenditures, committing to the expansion of defense industry capabilities. They reaffirmed their support for Ukraine by promising €70 billion in military assistance for the year 2026.

The concluding NATO communique highlighted the leaders’ consensus on developing their military capabilities, including air and missile defense systems. Emphasizing that any attack on a member nation would be considered an attack on the entire alliance, they reiterated their commitment to collective defense.
