US Seeks to Delay Hormuz Strait Satellite Image Release, EU Agrees
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, citing RT, the European Union has taken a surprising step, contrary to the policies of the free flow of information, by agreeing to the United States’ request to delay the release of Copernicus satellite images in the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz for 24 hours.
The Copernicus satellite imagery covers the Persian Gulf area, including the Gulf of Oman and the shipping lanes leading to the Strait of Hormuz.
This request from the United States is aimed at censoring images of the destruction caused by Iran’s missile and drone attacks in the region.
This decision comes amid the escalation of similar restrictions by private space and navigation companies in releasing images of the region amidst heightened military tensions related to Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
