Romania Summons Russian Ambassador Following Drone Incident Over Black Sea
Romania announced it is summoning the Russian ambassador after its forces downed a drone that had entered its airspace, marking the third such incident in three days for the NATO member state.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Romania announced on Sunday that it will summon the Russian ambassador following the downing of a third drone by the country’s military within the last three days. The incident occurred over the Black Sea.
Romanian Defense Minister Radu Mircea stated that an F-16 fighter jet from Romania’s air force intercepted and shot down a drone approximately five minutes after it entered Romanian airspace over the Black Sea. Mircea confirmed the drone was destroyed.
Oana Tovu, Romania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, also commented on the repeated airspace violations. She affirmed that the country would summon the Russian ambassador in response to these breaches.
