Yemen Downs Turkish-Made Akinci Drone in Al Jawf Province

Yemeni armed forces have announced the downing of a Turkish-made Akinci combat and reconnaissance drone belonging to Saudi aggressors over the skies of Al Jawf province. The incident underscores ongoing hostilities and Yemen’s assertion of sovereignty.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, images have been released of a Turkish-made Akinci drone, identified as belonging to the Saudi-led coalition, that was shot down over the skies of Al Jawf province. The report, citing Al Masirah, indicates the drone was downed by Yemeni forces.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for the Yemeni armed forces, stated that the drone was targeted and shot down with appropriate weaponry while engaged in hostile actions. He emphasized that the Yemeni armed forces stand resolutely against any attempts to violate the country’s sovereignty and possess the necessary capabilities to respond to such aggressions.

The incident highlights the continued military engagements in Yemen and the capabilities of the Yemeni forces in confronting aerial threats. The downing of the Akinci drone, a platform known for its advanced capabilities, is presented as a significant defensive action by the Yemeni military.

The released images show debris and parts of the downed drone. The presence of Turkish-made military equipment in the conflict zone has been a recurring point of contention, with Yemeni officials frequently citing it as evidence of foreign interference.

The Yemeni armed forces have reiterated their commitment to defending national sovereignty and have warned that they will not hesitate to use their resources to counter any further incursions or hostile acts. This latest event is part of a broader pattern of conflict and strategic posturing within the region.
