Dozens Injured in Japan Earthquake; 27 Aftershocks Recorded

A powerful earthquake in Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture has resulted in over 50 injuries, with seismologists reporting 27 aftershocks within hours of the initial tremor.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Japanese media have released initial casualty figures following a severe earthquake in the country. Reports indicate that the powerful quake in Kumamoto Prefecture, located in southern Japan, has left more than 50 people injured.

The Japan Meteorological Agency stated that the region experienced 27 aftershocks in the two hours immediately following the strong earthquake. Earlier, news sources reported that an earthquake with an initial magnitude of 7.1 struck Kumamoto Prefecture today, causing power outages for 40,000 customers, halting rail services, and prompting tsunami and aftershock warnings from authorities.
