Military Sites Targeted in Basra and Wasit Provinces, Iraq
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, several military sites in the southern Iraqi provinces of Basra and Wasit have been subjected to attacks. Al Mayadeen’s correspondent reported that military headquarters in the Al-Dair region of Basra province and the Al-Suwaira region of Wasit province were targeted. No details regarding the perpetrators, the extent of damages, or potential casualties have been released at this time.
Al Mayadeen’s correspondent also reported hearing the sound of explosions in the northern part of Babel province, located in southern Iraq, as well as in the Nineveh plains in the country’s north. The reporter indicated that in the attack on Nineveh plains, a facility belonging to the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) was struck by an airstrike.
In a related development, the command of the Popular Mobilization Forces operations in Basra confirmed that their headquarters in Basra was targeted by an airstrike at 2 AM. Meanwhile, the U.S. military confirmed early Wednesday that it conducted strikes, in conjunction with the Saudi Arabian army, against resistance bases in Iraq.
Earlier, Iraqi sources had reported that the headquarters of anti-Iranian separatist terror groups in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, was targeted by explosive drones.
