Hebrew Daily Exposes Allegations of Abuse Against Netanyahu’s Wife
According to reports cited by the Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth, numerous complaints and testimonies from former staff members of the Israeli Prime Minister’s residence detail alleged mistreatment by Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, spanning over two and a half decades. The accusations include humiliation, verbal abuse, and physical assault.
The latest case involves a former employee named Yehiel Ohav Ami, who claims he endured constant insults, shouting, and profanity during his tenure. He alleges that on one occasion, he was ordered to clean the kitchen floor while crawling on his hands and knees. The 61-year-old also stated that Sara Netanyahu wished him cancer and death.
The Prime Minister’s office has vehemently denied these allegations, characterizing them as part of a scheme to extort the government and damage the image of the Prime Minister’s wife.
Yedioth Ahronoth also highlighted a previous case from 2016 where Gali Eliyahu, who was responsible for the maintenance of the residence, successfully obtained compensation. In that ruling, the court acknowledged a significant portion of his testimony regarding a work environment filled with fear, shouting, reprimands, and humiliation.
Eliyahu recounted being forced to return home late at night simply to warm a bowl of soup for Sara Netanyahu, and on another occasion, returning to work to say goodnight. He also reported working up to 19 hours a day.
The newspaper also presented testimony from Eti Haim, who alleged that Sara Netanyahu struck her hand after Haim opened a cabinet before washing her hands. Haim further emphasized that Sara frequently yelled at staff members.
Shira Regev, another former employee, corroborated these accounts, describing her time at the residence as marked by shouting and humiliation, making her feel treated like a servant. In her testimony, Regev stated that Sara Netanyahu would run towards staff, shout at them, and pull their hair.
