Somali Army Chief Meets Turkish Defense Minister in Ankara

The Chief of Staff of the Somali Armed Forces, Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, held discussions with Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler in Ankara, focusing on bilateral defense cooperation. The visit, at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart, underscores the deepening military ties between the two nations.
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler welcomed Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, the Chief of Staff of the Somali Armed Forces, on Monday. The meeting took place as part of Mahmoud’s visit to Turkey, extended at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart.
Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu, the Chief of Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces, was also present during the meeting with the high-ranking Somali official. The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced the visit via its official account on X, formerly Twitter. However, the ministry has not yet provided specific details regarding the topics discussed during the high-level talks.
