Explosion Rocks Libya’s El Sharara Oil Refinery

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, multiple explosions have occurred in a fuel tank at the El Sharara refinery in Libya, with the nature of the incident not yet determined. Reuters cited sources reporting the blasts. The Brega Oil Company, in response to the incident, reiterated its call for all parties to cease military actions and stay away from oil facilities. Meanwhile, local Libyan sources told Al Jazeera that the explosion at the El Sharara oil refinery was caused by a drone attack, resulting in significant material damage. No casualties have been reported thus far. The El Sharara refinery is one of Libya’s most important oil installations and its largest active refinery. Located approximately 40 kilometers west of Tripoli, the capital of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord, in northwestern Libya, the refinery has a processing capacity of around 120,000 barrels of oil per day.
