Euro-Med Monitor Accuses Israel of Manipulating UNICEF Data to Evade Gaza Starvation Responsibility
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor stated that the Israeli regime is attempting to evade its responsibility for the crime of starving civilians in the Gaza Strip by selectively and misleadingly using information published by a UNICEF nutrition group related to 2026, fabricating realities and manipulating statistics.
The monitor examined a report presented by the Israeli regime concerning Gaza, writing that Tel Aviv aims to portray the situation in Gaza favorably by presenting manipulated statistics.
This report emphasized that the study did not conclude that “famine does not exist in the Gaza Strip,” but rather only measured the nutritional status during a limited period in June 2026. The declaration of famine status, according to the “Integrated Food Security Phase Classification” (IPC), is based on a specific temporal and spatial context and combined indicators including food consumption, malnutrition, and mortality rates.
These reports also predicted that by April 2027, more than 74,000 children will require treatment for acute malnutrition.
The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor also accused the Israeli regime of a double standard in its handling of UNICEF reports, noting that while the regime selectively uses some of this organization’s statistics, it ignores documentation related to the deaths of 265 Palestinian children from bombings, shootings, and drone attacks since the announcement of a ceasefire.
The organization concluded by emphasizing that the crime of starving civilians is not contingent on malnutrition reaching a specific percentage or an official declaration of famine. Rather, the deliberate deprivation of civilians of essential survival resources, including the systematic prevention of humanitarian aid from entering, can be considered an instance of this crime.
