Hamas Denounces Gaza Police Chief Assassination as ‘Brutal, Deceptive Crime’
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hamas, the Islamic Resistance Movement of Palestine, issued a strong condemnation of the assassination of Colonel Jamal Abukamil, the civilian police chief of Gaza Province, carried out by the “criminal Zionist army.” The movement described the act as a brutal and deceptive crime that exposes the criminal occupier’s true nature.
A statement released by Hamas asserted that the assassination operation on Thursday underscores the occupier’s insistence on perpetrating barbaric crimes against the Palestinian people and their desperate, fascist attempts to create chaos and lawlessness in the Gaza Strip. Hamas emphasized that this brutal and deceptive crime reveals the reality of the criminal occupiers and their policies, which aim to continue a genocidal war, deepen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, and plunge the territory into chaos, constituting a full-fledged war crime.
The movement concluded its statement by calling on mediators to take immediate action to halt the recurring aggressions by the Israeli regime, to hold it accountable, and to compel it to adhere to the terms of the Sharm el-Sheikh ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza Ministry of Interior also issued a statement, describing the new crime as a dangerous aggression demonstrating the Israeli regime’s determination to continue targeting the pillars of civil police work in the Gaza Strip. This action is seen as an effort to incite chaos within Palestinian society.
The statement further noted that this unjustified crime occurs within the framework of ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement by Tel Aviv, at a time when all parties are striving to stabilize the truce. This highlights that the Israeli regime is intentionally thwarting the efforts of mediators and obstructing the achievement of a ceasefire.
