Under this proposed legislation, U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth would be prohibited from altering records related to human casualties, particularly among military personnel. This measure is intended to counter any attempts to downplay the severity of the conflict’s impact.

Previously, several Democratic senators had already sought explanations from Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of War, concerning the reporting of U.S. troop casualties in the context of conflict with Iran.
