Qatar Denies Arrest of Iranian Pilots, Reports Finding Deceased Crew Member

Qatar has vehemently denied claims of detaining Iranian pilots, expressing surprise at ‘misleading statements’ regarding their fate while diplomatic efforts continue. The Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson confirmed contact with the pilots after they violated the country’s airspace in March.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Qatar has decisively refuted allegations concerning the arrest of Iranian pilots. Majid Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed astonishment at what he described as “misleading statements” about the pilots’ destiny, even as diplomatic efforts persist. Qatar established contact with the pilots after they violated the country’s airspace last March.

Al-Ansari further stated that after initiating contact with the Iranian pilots and receiving no response, Qatar undertook necessary measures to defend its territory. Qatari search and rescue teams have reportedly found the remains of one of the pilots during ongoing operations to locate wreckage. The spokesperson claimed that Qatar has been in contact with the Iranian side to coordinate the handover of the pilot’s remains.

He concluded by asserting that the Iranian side did not respond to Qatar’s invitation to send a team to be briefed on the search operations conducted in April.
