US Lawmakers Demand Answers on Carrier Abraham Lincoln Crew Crisis

Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have formally requested an explanation from Secretary of War Pete Haggett regarding the deteriorating conditions aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Reports indicate a severe mental health crisis among the crew due to an extended deployment.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, members of the Democratic Party in the U.S. House of Representatives have sent a message to Secretary of War Pete Haggett, demanding an explanation for the current dire situation aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. Fox News reported on the lawmakers’ inquiry.

The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, suggested that the conditions on the carrier are a natural consequence of wartime deployments. However, these officials acknowledged that prolonged periods at sea without docking can pose significant challenges for the crew.

The Guardian previously reported that the unprecedented and extended mission of the USS Abraham Lincoln, in connection with U.S. and Israeli actions against Iran, has contributed to a worsening mental health crisis among the approximately 5,000 sailors and Marines aboard. Reports indicate that several sailors have attempted to harm themselves by jumping into the sea.
