Powerful 5.9 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Indonesia’s Flores Region

A significant earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale has struck the Flores region of Indonesia, according to German geoscientific research data. The tremor occurred just days after a larger earthquake devastated the island’s coasts.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, a powerful earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale jolted Indonesia‘s Flores region on Monday. The data, released by Germany’s Center for Geoscientific Research and reported by Reuters, indicated the seismic event occurred at 7:46 AM local time.

The epicenter of the earthquake was situated approximately 10 kilometers deep, with initial coordinates recorded at 8.57 degrees South latitude and 121.55 degrees East longitude. This significant tremor comes as the Flores region was still grappling with the aftermath of a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck the island’s shores two days prior, resulting in numerous fatalities.
