Strait of Hormuz as a Sign of US Empire’s Imminent Collapse, Says Analyst

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, strategic affairs analyst Abdel Bari Atwan has asserted that the Strait of Hormuz serves as a critical sign of the impending collapse of the American empire. In his latest article, referencing data published by Mehr News Agency via Rai Al Youm, Atwan highlighted the confusion and aimlessness of President Donald Trump’s strategic plans concerning Iran.
Atwan stated that Iran’s ingenuity, coupled with its long-term strategic patience, has manifested in its use of the Strait of Hormuz as a trap for the United States. This strategy, he explained, is designed to prolong the conflict until the U.S. midterm elections, scheduled for three months from now, which he predicts will lead to the humiliating downfall of Trump and the Republican Party.
Highlighting Iran’s keen understanding of Trump’s critical vulnerabilities, Atwan pointed out the growing American anger over a war waged by the U.S. in favor of Israel. He suggested that Trump is seeking a pretext and a dignified exit strategy to declare a false ‘victory’ and withdraw from the conflict. This exit, he believes, might be sought through reopening the Strait of Hormuz to international commercial shipping. However, Iran maintains its full demands for complete de-blockading, the lifting of economic sanctions, the release of all frozen assets, and compensation exceeding $400 billion for damages resulting from American-Israeli aggression.
Atwan noted that the vast majority of American strategic experts concur on the definitive failure of the U.S. in the ‘Hormuz’ conflict and the certainty of its withdrawal from the Middle East to mitigate losses. He indicated that this message has reached Trump and his administration.
He further elaborated that U.S. oil tankers, destroyers, and naval fleets have been outmatched by Iran’s formidable capabilities and unwavering resolve, as well as its unpredictable capacity for resilience at all stages. Atwan contends that Iran is currently controlling the global economy through its successful ‘management’ and assertion of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, alongside its support for resistance factions in Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, and Gaza.
Describing Trump’s claim of annexing the Strait of Hormuz to U.S. territory as ‘delusional,’ Atwan emphasized that Trump will be forced to backtrack from these delusions against his will, just as he has retreated from all his previous threats in a similarly humiliating manner.
