Iraqi Political Leader Calls for Restraint on Arms Monopoly Issue

Hadi Al-Amiri, Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, has urged all parties to adopt a moderate tone and prevent escalation in discussions surrounding the government’s monopoly on arms, emphasizing national interests and Iraq’s sovereign decision-making.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Hadi Al-Amiri, the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, has addressed the issue of the government’s exclusive control over weapons, calling on all sides to adhere to a language of moderation and calm and to avoid escalating tensions in their positions. Al-Amiri stressed the importance of prioritizing national interests and expressed firm confidence in the good intentions, wisdom, and decisive commitment of Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi and the resistance forces to guarantee the national aspect of arms monopoly.

He cautioned against the consequences of hasty, unexamined, or provocative actions, and expressed hope that all parties would refrain from using inflammatory and unjustifiable tones in their statements, declarations, and media activities, avoiding misinterpretations of the situation and inaccuracies in calculations. Al-Amiri also called on everyone involved in the arms monopoly issue to act with a spirit of national responsibility and to avoid providing pretexts for foreign parties seeking to impose dominance and insist on appropriating Iraq’s security, political, and economic decisions.

The Secretary-General of the Badr Organization emphasized that the issue of arms monopoly is entirely national and pertains to Iraq, asserting that any decision on this matter should be made solely by Iraq, as Iraqis are capable of managing this file with high efficiency and a sense of responsibility. He further stated that weapons derive their legitimacy from their effectiveness in serving national interests, a factor determined by national consensus rather than division, and should be aimed at strengthening Iraq’s security based on full sovereignty, independent decision-making, and unity of position.
