US Lincoln Carrier Strike Group Mission Cost Exceeds $1.5 Billion

The extended deployment of the U.S. naval carrier Lincoln has incurred significant financial costs, adding millions of dollars daily to operational expenses and totaling nearly $1.5 billion for its recent 269-day mission.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Newsweek, citing experts, reported that the prolonged deployment of the American carrier Lincoln not only negatively impacts its readiness and crew condition but also entails substantial financial burdens. Each day the carrier remains at sea adds millions of dollars to the overall operational costs.

Newsweek, quoting Elyse Donnellan, a former financial monitor at the U.S. Department of Defense, stated that according to estimates from the Congressional Budget Office, employing the carrier costs $5.5 million per day, and its 269-day mission amounted to approximately $1.5 billion. These costs escalate during conflict and war, potentially reaching up to $12 million per day.

The publication reported that the crew of the Lincoln carrier spent 200 days in the operational area and conducted over 10,000 sorties.
