Seymour Hersh: US Respect and Standing Diminished in Region Under Trump Administration

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh stated that the Trump administration finds itself in a severe military confrontation with Iran and has lost the respect of its regional allies. He warned of potential short-term loss of access to the Strait of Hormuz, impacting gasoline prices and Republican electoral prospects.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by Mehr News Agency, citing TASS, American journalist and Pulitzer Prize laureate Seymour Hersh emphasized that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump views itself amidst a severe military conflict with Iran and has lost its respect among its regional allies.

Hersh added that the Trump administration has lost significant support and respect from its long-standing regional allies, countries that have been affected by Iran’s precise missile and drone attacks.

He clarified that Trump entered a conflict that he later realized was more complex than he initially thought, with Iranian officials continuing to resist.

Hersh cautioned that the United States might lose control of the Strait of Hormuz in the short term. This development could diminish opportunities for lowering gasoline prices and reduce the Republican Party’s chances in the upcoming midterm elections, especially as Trump has announced the cessation of negotiations with Iran.
