Imran Khan Moved to Hospital From Prison Following Supreme Court Ruling

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, the transfer follows the issuance of an order by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and is a response to persistent concerns from Imran Khan‘s supporters about his declining physical condition after more than three years in detention.
Political observers view this move as a potential initial step toward de-escalating tensions between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and Pakistan’s powerful military establishment. These tensions have intensified since Khan’s ouster from power in 2022.
Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, were sentenced in December 2024 in a case concerning financial corruption, receiving sentences of 10 and 7 years respectively for Khan (totaling 17 years), and 17 years for his wife. The sentences were related to a case handled in the city of Rawalpindi.
The PTI has consistently denied the allegations, characterizing all legal cases against its leader as politically motivated and driven by a desire for retribution from the military and the government.
Meanwhile, the judge presiding over the case had issued severe penalties for both individuals upon confirming the charges of treason against the national treasury and bribery.
Tensions between Khan and the Pakistani military escalated to the point where, in December 2024, Khan accused the Army Chief of unlawful actions and the bloody suppression of opponents. This accusation was refuted by Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the army’s spokesperson, who in turn labeled Imran Khan a “national security threat.”
