Europe and Canada Condemn Israeli Settlement Expansion in West Bank

European nations and Canada have issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s new settlement construction plans in the West Bank, calling for an immediate halt to the development of over 1,200 residential units.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, European powers and Canada have reacted sharply to the Israeli regime’s latest settlement expansion plans in the West Bank. Following the announcement of tenders for over 1,200 residential units in the occupied territory, officials from seven countries, including four European Union members, have called for the cessation of these construction activities.

The joint statement was signed by France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Canada. The plan, known as ‘E1’, which was approved by the Israeli regime last year, is set to further isolate Palestinian-populated areas of East Jerusalem, occupied and annexed by Israel, from the rest of the West Bank.

The United Nations Secretary-General had previously warned that the implementation of the ‘E1’ plan poses a serious risk and a fundamental threat to the feasibility of establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.
