Russia Monitors NATO’s Aggressive Actions Near Its Borders, Cites Security Concerns

Russia is closely monitoring NATO’s aggressive activities near its borders and possesses the necessary military-technical tools to ensure its security, according to a senior Russian diplomat. Moscow warns of a decisive response should the military-political situation in the Baltic region escalate further.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that Moscow has all the necessary military-technical means to ensure its security against Western activities near its borders. Speaking on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, Grushko added that Russia considers NATO’s aggressive actions near its frontiers within its military structure.

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, indicated that Russia would deliver a decisive and devastating response if the military-political situation in the Baltic region intensifies further. The security balance in the Baltic Sea region underwent a significant shift following the commencement of the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022 and the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO, transforming the body of water into a primary area of confrontation between Russia and the alliance.

NATO member states in Eastern Europe have increased their military presence and intelligence activities. Russia has responded to these developments by bolstering its military and intelligence operations, including reconnaissance flights near the airspace of NATO countries. Moscow perceives NATO’s heightened military presence near its borders as a threat to Russian security, while NATO countries maintain that their actions are purely defensive.
