Pakistan Foreign Minister Urges Honest Implementation of U.S.-Iran Accord

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reiterated that the sincere implementation of an agreement signed in June remains the sole viable path to resolving the dispute between the United States and Iran. Dar made these remarks during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Pakistan‘s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated on Tuesday that the honest execution of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed in June, continues to be the only way forward to resolve the dispute between the United States and Iran. Dar made these remarks during a meeting with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on social media platform X that the two foreign ministers held a cordial discussion, covering bilateral relations and regional developments. Dar emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for promoting peace and stability across the region. According to the ministry, he also stressed that the honest implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of June 2026 by both parties to the conflict is the only way forward.

Dar and Araghchi also underscored the importance of continued engagement between Pakistan and Iran amidst regional tensions. The Islamabad Memorandum was reached in June as part of diplomatic efforts to de-escalate hostilities between Washington and Tehran and establish a framework for tension reduction. However, the American side has repeatedly violated its terms. Pakistan has sought to maintain diplomatic engagement with both parties and has repeatedly called for resolving differences through negotiation rather than military action.

Tuesday’s meeting took place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in the Kyrgyz capital, where regional leaders and senior officials gathered to discuss security, economic cooperation, and regional developments.
