Netanyahu Lawsuit Against Israeli Newspaper Over Report on UAE President’s Warning

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, based on data published by the Mehr News Agency citing The Guardian, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered his legal team to sue the newspaper Haaretz and its reporter Shlomi Eldar for publishing a report about a warning from the President of the UAE prior to the October 7, 2023 attack.

Haaretz, in a report published on Tuesday, claimed that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, had warned Netanyahu approximately ten days before the Hamas attack on October 7 during a phone call lasting around 45 minutes. The report alleged that Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed informed Netanyahu that Yahya Sinwar was planning a major operation against Israel.

Netanyahu has strongly denied this report, stating that no such conversation took place between him and the President of the UAE. The Prime Minister’s Office in Israel also dismissed Haaretz’s report as “fabricated” and politically motivated, linking it to the upcoming elections.

In response, Haaretz has maintained its commitment to its report. The publication of this story has intensified political pressure on Netanyahu ahead of the October 27 elections, with his opponents calling for his resignation.
