US Gasoline Prices Surpass $6 Per Gallon Amidst Oil Price Surge

Average gasoline prices in the United States have crossed the $6 per gallon threshold for the first time in history, driven by a resurgence in crude oil prices exceeding $100 per barrel.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data released by GasBuddy indicates that the average price of gasoline in the United States has surpassed $6 per gallon for the first time ever. This surge occurs as crude oil prices have once again climbed above $100 per barrel, with Brent crude trading at $109 per barrel on Thursday.

Patrick De Haan, a fuel market analyst at GasBuddy, stated that the rise in gasoline prices could escalate transportation, service, and consumer goods costs, intensifying inflationary pressures within the U.S. economy. The average U.S. gasoline price has increased by approximately $2.30 per gallon compared to a year ago. Concurrently, U.S. gasoline inventories stand at about 106.3 million barrels, which is 13% below the five-year average.

Experts are warning that the continued rise in fuel prices could increase costs for transportation, supply chains, and food products, making the task of U.S. monetary policymakers in controlling inflation more challenging.
