Unprecedented Rat Infestation Plagues Israeli Settlements Near Gaza

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israeli media are reporting a widespread and unprecedented infestation of rats overwhelming settlements and military bases around Gaza. These rodents, including both common and sewer rats, have entered Israeli towns and agricultural lands in record numbers.

The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the phenomenon initially affected Israeli soldiers stationed at military outposts and positions east of the Gaza Strip before spreading to nearby settlements. The rats are believed to have entered Israel from the Gaza Strip, which has suffered extensive destruction due to ongoing military operations.

Significant damage has been inflicted upon agricultural produce in farms near the Gaza Strip, with an estimated 70 percent of soybean crops in the region reportedly destroyed. In addition, at least ten Israeli settlers have been attacked and injured by the rats in recent weeks.

The number of rats in homes within the settlements of Nahal Oz and Nir Yitzhak is estimated to be between 50 to 100 per residence.
