UK Prime Minister to Urge Trump to End Confrontation with Iran

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham intends to ask U.S. President Donald Trump to end the conflict against Iran during their meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly sessions, The Guardian reported.

Burnham plans to use his first meeting with Trump, scheduled for Tuesday, to strive for reduced regional tensions.

Government sources in the UK told The Guardian that Burnham aims to adopt a third path in his engagement with Trump: neither confront him publicly like Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, nor openly flatter him like former British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, but rather to rely on his personal influence.

The Guardian quoted Burnham as stating that Britain desires to see an end to the conflict with Iran as soon as possible and is prepared to play its part in achieving this objective.
