Pentagon to Halve Promotions for Top Military Officers Amid Cost-Saving Measures

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Fox News reported on Tuesday that the Secretary of Defense intends to halve the number of promotions for generals and admirals within the U.S. military.

Sources close to the Republican party indicate that Secretary of Defense Pete Hagest is targeting a 20% reduction in the number of positions held by generals and senior flag officers, a figure that doubles last year’s reduction target of 10%.

Fox News further elaborated that Hagest aims to decrease the number of general and flag officer appointments by 20 percent, a rate twice the 10 percent reduction goal set for the previous year. This decision mandates that the Pentagon execute these changes by January 1, 2027.

The U.S. military’s expenditures have reportedly incurred substantial costs, necessitating a more frugal approach to spending for both military and civilian institutions.
