Iraqi President Declares New Era of International Relations Post-Coalition Mission
According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Iraqi President Nezar Amidiyah stated on Wednesday that Iraq is entering a new stage in its international relations, characterized by complete sovereignty, balanced partnerships, mutual interests, and non-interference in internal affairs. These remarks were made on the occasion of Sovereignty Day.
President Amidiyah extended his highest congratulations to the Iraqi people, underscoring that Iraq’s sovereignty, national decision-making independence, territorial integrity, and the soundness of its institutions are supreme and non-negotiable principles. He emphasized that the will of the Iraqi people and their national interests will form the basis for shaping the country’s present and future, and for determining its options and relationships.
He further elaborated that sovereignty is only complete with a powerful government possessing deep-rooted and strong institutions and the full rule of law. Such a government must exclusively control sovereign decisions and exercise its legal and constitutional responsibilities throughout the nation. Consequently, the decision-making authority for peace and war rests solely with the government and its constitutional institutions. Additionally, regulating arms and bringing them under government control, along with placing all forms of power within the framework of the constitution and law, are fundamental pillars for preserving sovereignty, safeguarding stability, and strengthening the government’s authority.
On this national occasion, Amidiyah appealed once again to all political and national forces to assume their responsibilities in safeguarding decision-making unity in Iraq. He urged them to prioritize the supreme interests of the state above all other considerations, to bolster national cohesion, and to shield Iraq from conflicts and disputes.
The Iraqi President explained that Iraq seeks to expand its political, economic, trade, and cultural relations with countries worldwide. He concluded by honoring the martyrs of Iraq, including members of the armed forces, police, Hashd al-Shaabi, Peshmerga, and tribal Hashd, as well as all those who sacrificed their lives defending Iraq’s land and people and in confronting the terrorist group ISIS. He also paid tribute to all who played a role in protecting the country and preserving its security and unity.
