Gaza Faces Catastrophic Damage: Over 200,000 Buildings Affected

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, data released by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics indicates that from October 7, 2023, to June 16, 2026, a staggering 201,290 buildings in the Gaza Strip have been damaged, representing approximately 82% of the total structures in the territory. This includes the complete destruction of 134,422 buildings and severe damage to 13,848 others. The number of affected residential units has reached around 328,627.
The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics further stated that approximately 2.1 million Palestinians in Gaza remain displaced. With homes and essential services severely impacted, residents are confined to less than 40% of the Gaza Strip’s area. The report highlights that around 90% of Gaza’s water and sanitation infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, leaving 82% of families facing water insecurity.
According to the report, roughly 70% of Gaza’s families receive only 6 liters of water per person per day, a figure well below the minimum requirement of 15 liters per person daily as estimated by the World Health Organization. The extensive destruction of housing and infrastructure, coupled with ongoing displacement, has exacerbated a severe housing crisis, drastically limiting Palestinian access to shelter and basic services.
