Israel’s ‘Jungle Sultan’ Doctrine Aims to Reshape Regional Order, Study Reveals

Recent analysis of Israeli military research suggests Tel Aviv is pursuing a long-term strategy to transition from a local military power to a regional hegemon, aiming to dictate the future political and security landscape of the Middle East.

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, recent developments in the Middle East, from the war in Gaza to tensions in Lebanon, Syria, and beyond, are not merely isolated incidents but are increasingly understood as components of a larger, long-term strategy by the Israeli regime. Examination of on-the-ground evidence and intellectual documents from Israeli research centers reveals a plan to evolve from a ‘local military power’ into a ‘regional hegemon’.

The Israeli Center for Military Studies ‘Dado,’ affiliated with the Israeli army, has published documents offering significant insights into this shift. An article titled ‘Jungle Sultan: The Role of Israeli Military Power in Creating a New Regional Order,’ authored by senior Israeli army officers Dr. Eyal Fact and Dr. Eyal Jimenez, discusses changes in the regime’s strategies. These researchers, influenced by the views of prominent American theorist Henry Kissinger, propose that the Israeli regime should move away from a ‘first-circle defense’ doctrine towards actively playing the role of a ‘regional power’ with operational presence across the Middle East. This indicates Tel Aviv’s conscious effort to position itself as the ‘decision-maker’ in shaping the region’s political and security order.

Contrary to initial perceptions that Israeli attacks on Gaza, Lebanon, and other fronts are emergency reactions to events, a strategic content analysis of Israeli thinking indicates these actions are part of multi-year plans. The terrorist attack involving the explosion of communication devices (pagers) in Lebanon serves as a prime example, with evidence suggesting years of planning. This progression suggests that the Israeli regime’s war machine is not reacting but is ‘staged execution’ of a plan whose ultimate goal is to subjugate regional countries to an ‘Israeli golden age,’ an era where Tel Aviv’s hegemony, with strategic support from the United States, becomes a certainty. This strategy makes no distinction between different countries, targeting any nation that challenges this hegemony with Israeli wrath and attacks.

Unwavering support from Washington has emboldened strategic decision-makers in the Israeli regime. Theorists in this vein discuss the necessity of altering the balance concerning Iran, attacking Qatar, and refusing to withdraw from occupied territories in Syria, all of which are pieces of a larger puzzle. These ambitions, coupled with the unbridled expansion of settlements in the West Bank and the continuation of a ‘scorched earth’ strategy in Gaza, aim to impose a new reality based on ‘Israeli sovereignty over the entire region.’ In this model, opposing countries and movements would be compelled to accept the rules dictated by Tel Aviv for a new ‘economic, political, and security order.’

What is termed ‘operational freedom of action’ and ‘multi-front warfare capability’ in the military literature of the ‘Dado’ center is, in reality, an attempt to overcome Israel’s traditional impasses. However, regional analysts believe this ‘hegemonic aspiration’ overlooks on-the-ground realities. By shifting its role from a regional player to a ‘Jungle Sultan’ imposing its will on others, the Israeli regime is expanding its scope of tension to such an extent that it will face existential challenges in the long term. This analysis suggests that the current conflict is not merely about security but about redefining a ‘regional order’ in which the Israeli regime, relying on unchecked military power, attempts to shape the destiny of the region’s governments and peoples in its favor.
