Israeli Prisons Inflict Torture and Starvation on Palestinian Detainees

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, an investigative report by the Israeli newspaper “Haaretz,” citing testimonies from five Palestinian prisoners released over the past 18 months, has exposed torture, starvation, beatings, and deprivation of medical care in the prisons and detention centers of the Israeli regime.
Palestinian prisoners reported mistreatment and inhumane detention conditions in Megiddo, Nafha, Ketziot, Ofer, and Damon prisons, as well as a military detention center in Huwara. These former detainees stated they lost between 15 to 50 percent of their body weight. They also spoke of collective punishments, frequent humiliation, the prevalence of scabies, and delays in providing medical services.
According to these released prisoners, the detention conditions for Palestinians from Gaza are even more dire than those of other Palestinian prisoners. The report from Haaretz also noted that in September, the Israeli Prison Service held 9,329 Palestinians under the designation of “security prisoners.” This investigation found that only 16 percent of these individuals had been convicted by Israeli courts. The remainder were categorized into various groups, including detainees awaiting trial, administrative detainees, and those referred to by the regime as “illegal combatants.”
